We don’t discuss our most vulnerable human moments and the soul-cutting struggles we encounter in the journey of raising small humans because we fear shame, discomfort, and judgment.
One of the unsettling truths we continually remind ourselves of is we have no ability to transform the people around us. The only change we can directly influence is the one within ourselves.
There is no daddy-hero waiting at home to remind her how she’s loved, special, and beautiful.
A father’s rejection cuts deep in a way that can be difficult to articulate. Due to the severity of the pain, we tend to lock it away, push the hurts out of our mind or heart.
A final thought, addressed to those living with PTSD: What I’ve learned…..We have a new normal Some days I think, “I’m cured.” Why do we do that to ourselves?
