Everything is so strange this holiday season, here’s the #1 Way to Enjoy the Holidays in 2020.
Find ways to laugh every single day. It’s a gift to give yourself, as well as those around you. Laughing changes your energy and facial expression.
This may seem like a strange perspective, let me share a little history with you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Summer 2019 I received some upsetting news and became fed up with my depression. As a counterphobic 6 I did the only logical thing, I made a plan to embody FUN. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Step 1: Listen to funny Podcasts and study what’s funny. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Step 2: Watch the movies my husband picks and take note of when he laughs.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Step 3: STOP and listen when my kids’ laughter floats through the house. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My FUN’ometer was so skewed a crash course in humor was a must. It’s taken 18 months but FINALLY my giggle is solidly in place.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Is your FUN’ometer all jacked up because of 2020? I’d be surprised if it wasn’t. The only reason mine exist is well before this whole mess I made a vow to protect laughter. (y’all — this vow was #1. Higher than vegetables. Higher than Bible time. Higher than anything.)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m not saying you need to forgo veggies and faith. I had to go ALL IN because I’m not naturally funny. I’m the girl who “gets” a joke a solid 15 seconds LATER. I tend to be “end of the world” serious. I willingly carry the weight of the world on my shoulders, while also expecting to do every.single.thing flawlessly. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today I want to give you permission to stake *your* claim on FUN. Don’t let anyone mess with it. You get to define it too! ⠀
My humor is a bit dark. My jokes fall flat. And I’m super awkward. It’s wonderful.
This holiday season give yourself (and those you love) the gift of giggles!
