One Tool for Healing

As you begin to look at the fall months, let’s pause and consider adding something to our routine. This is going to be a big consideration so I ask you to bear with me.

You’re busy.

Don’t have time.

Finding someone you trust is difficult.

I hear you.

It’s not easy for me either.

But having a place to share any thought I have without worrying what the other person thinks has been life-giving.

“Will they think I’m crazy?”

“Will I pay for these words later?”

None of that.

Each time I have a conversation it’s on my terms. How I want it to go. I share only what I want to. One of the rare times in life I have control in the words I say and don’t worry if I’m going to upset the other person because I hold back, change the subject, or am uncomfortably honest.

Where is this magical place?

Well. It can take different forms.

For me it is therapy.

I’ve heard it can happen in support groups.

Prayer groups.

Hey – before you run off – you don’t have to. I’m not saying you “should,” that’s a word I do not like.

I just wanted to share what therapy has done for me. Before I thought it was supposed to be this magical place where everything got fixed.

Ha.

Hahahaha!

Haha.

Sorry. It still makes me laugh. Therapy has given me tools and a safe place, which I’m very thankful for!

But contrary to popular belief…the work, how things change….happens in everyday life.

So, if you’re hesitating over therapy like I did and it’s due to unrealistic expectations, I encourage you to think about it.

And if you liked this encouragement and would like to hang out more often, my social media sabbatical ends soon. You can find me on Instagram @commitandreclaim or on Facebook @TrishRussell. I’ll see you there!
